Writing Across the Curriculum Intern, Auburn University Montgomery 

The AUM Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) seeks to improve each student's writing quality by including writing-intensive instruction throughout required programs of study. The goals of the WAC program are:
  • Demonstrate the ability to use discourse, analysis, and evaluation skills appropriate to your academic discipline in writing
  • Sustain a focused discussion in written assignments
  • Write using documented evidence to support your points
  • Demonstrate writing skills (including grammar, mechanics, and spelling) in order to correctly convey information

For each writing intensive class that I intern for, I provide the following support:
  • One-on-one consultation for all students during all stages of the writing process 
  • Instructional support for the students and faculty of the writing intensive course
  • Brief workshops, in or outside of scheduled class time, on writing-related topics such as citation style or organizing ideas
  • Facilitate group peer review sessions
  • Create handouts and presentations related to the assigned writing assignments
  • Proctor any required assessment testing on essay writing or critical thinking
